EP5: A Name With a Soul

Some homes are found by map—but ours is found by memory.

After the house was finished, we waited. The rooms were ready, the lights warm. But silence answered first.

How would people find us?

Our real estate friend had promised to help—but only when her own properties were full. We quickly understood: her listings came first. If there were a double booking or overflow, only then would she send guests our way—for a commission.

I didn’t blame her. Honestly, if I were in her position, I might have done the same.

But sitting alone at my desk, pencil in hand, all I could draw were dots. No path forward. No solution. Just quiet frustration.

That night, I turned to my laptop. I started searching: “How do guests find vacation homes in Thailand?” And that’s when I discovered something new to me—Online Travel Agencies. OTAs. Airbnb, Agoda, Booking, Expedia… a whole digital world I hadn’t stepped into before.

I became curious. Could I list our house on one of these platforms? Could this be the way?

So I started researching—slowly, carefully. One website, then another. I gathered every piece of information I could, and within a few days, I decided to take the leap.

Airbnb became our very first step into this new world.

But before uploading photos or writing about amenities, a deeper question stopped me:

“If a guest stays just once… how will they ever find us again?”

Because I saw how most villas were listed:
“4 Bedroom Pool Villa”
“Family Villa with Garden”

Functional. Flexible. Disposable.

It made sense for property companies who manage many listings. They can easily move guests from one house to another. But what about the guests? What about people who plan for months, who imagine their trip down to the smallest corner—only to find themselves staying somewhere else?

I didn’t want to be interchangeable. I didn’t want our home to be a placeholder.

A Name With A Soul

I wanted it to be memorable.

So I focused on branding. We started brainstorming names. We played with ideas from our names, our nicknames, even combinations of initials. But none of them felt right. They didn’t carry the emotion we were trying to share.

It took nearly a week. Then finally—it came.
Thepprasit Cosy.

Thepprasit—our road. Our root. A way to guide guests back to where it all began.

In Thai, Thep-pra-sit means “Angels Created.”
A name with meaning. A blessing hidden in plain sight.

Cosy—a feeling, not just a look. A softness. A belonging.

Not “cozy” with a “z,” like so many others use.
But “cosy,” with an s—slightly different. Slightly British. Slightly us.
Personal. Authentic. Easy to remember.

And suddenly, the house had a name.
Not just any name—a soul.

A name built on love.
A name that carries our story forward.
A name our guests can return to.

Thepprasit Cosy.
Not just a house.
A home with a heartbeat.
And our living story of A & B.

This story is still unfolding—thank you for being part of it.
If it moved you, share it with someone who believes in second chances.
