EP4: The Dream That Waited

Still Believing, Even in the Silence

When the final coat of paint dried and the last bulb glowed warm into the night, we stood quietly in the doorway of our dream. The big house—patiently rebuilt with limited resources—was finally complete. It was beautiful. It was ours. It was ready.

But what followed wasn’t what we imagined.
We thought people would come. That good work and heartfelt intention would speak for itself. That someone, somewhere, would feel what we felt when they saw it.

Instead, it felt like casting a line into an ocean with no fish.

I contacted a property agent—sent photos, explained every detail with pride. They nodded, added it to their system.

“Recorded. We’ll contact you back,” they said.

Then came the silence. No interest. No follow-up. Just… nothing.

Hope flickered when a friend in the real estate business sent a guest our way. For a moment, we felt seen. But it didn’t last.

That agent had their own homes to sell—and naturally, those came first.
If I were in her position, I might have done the same.

And so the silence returned, heavier than before.

The Pause Between Chapters

It was disheartening. After all the years of building, saving, budgeting each baht, and paying salaries month after month—we weren’t prepared for this kind of stillness. The kind that echoes. The kind that makes you question everything.

And then one night, as I sat quietly with my thoughts, my wife looked at me and whispered something I’ll never forget:

“We can sell everything, clear the debt, and start again from one.
Lord Buddha said we came with nothing, and we’ll leave with nothing.
So don’t carry this weight alone. I’m with you. Always.”

That moment didn’t fix things. But it softened them.

It reminded me that this house—our house—is more than walls and paint. It’s proof of what A & B built together. Of love that didn’t give up. Of a vision that held on, even when no one was watching.

The world hasn’t found us yet. But we still believe they will.

Even if it takes time.
Even if it doesn’t happen as beautifully as we imagined.

“I never give up. I give my best in everything I do.
Because my children won’t just hear what I say
—they’ll learn from what they see.” —Anat
